    The Hinderwell Coffee Story

Here at Forge Valley Roasters we're constantly inspired by the spectacular beauty of the Forge Valley Woods and the rich history and rugged beauty of our moorlands. Our inaugural house blend, Hinderwell, embodies this spirit with a vibrant interplay of jammy fruits and bittersweet chocolates, 'forged' from the finest Ethiopian and Colombian beans. It is named after Thomas Hinderwell, who, in 1811, published the earliest known written reference of the 'Forge' of Forge Valley Woods in his "History and Antiquities of Scarborough, and the Vicinity".

Comprised entirely of naturally processed beans, the heart of our Hinderwell blend lies in sun-drenched Dola, Ethiopia, where SCA scored 87.5-point Arabica beans thrive at altitudes reaching 2300 meters. These treasures, bursting with notes of dark berries, peach and rich milk chocolate are woven together with an SCA scored 86-point Colombian gem from Anserma, Caldas. Grown at 1790 meters, these beans add a layer of strawberry jam sweetness, decadent dark chocolate and creamy richness, creating a harmonious melody in every cup.

From the sun-drenched Ethiopian hills and emerald Colombian valleys, to our roastery nestled in the Forge Valley Woods at the foot of the moors, all the way to your cup, we hope you enjoy this blend as much as we do!

An excerpt from Hinderwell, on the 'Forge' of Forge Valley Woods:

"On ringing anvils here, the ponderous steel,
By steams of water wielded, beats the bars,
From the rude mass of ore; at every blow,
The forests tremble; hills and vales resound."
