We're Chris & Tash of Forge Valley Roasters, we’re a family run business living and breathing coffee at our Brew Bar in Wilsons Food Hall in Seamer and our coffee roastery on the grounds of our cottage, nestled at the edge of the Forge Valley Woods in the majestic North York Moors National Park.
Where we are.
Situated at the edge of the Forge Valley Woods on the south side of the North York Moors we roast our coffees under the watchful gaze of Ayton Castle.
Okay, technically it isn't a castle because it is all that remains of a fortified house called a 'Pele Tower' which was constructed in 1410 by Sir Ralph Eure, a wealthy landowner who had married into the local de Aton family.
Never did we think an area could be as beautiful as it is here. Any season, any weather there is always something to discover accross the moors, the community woodlands or the rugged coastline.
Who we are.
We met over 15 years ago and together we've moved across the Atlantic ocean and back again finally coming to settle here on the North York Moors on the North East coast of England.
Chris is the head coffee roaster and has over 17 years of experience in retail and hospitality operations and workforce transformation consultancy spanning both the UK and USA. Chris has worked with some of the world's largest retail & hospitality companies to help them solve their complex frontline operations challenges. Prior to consultancy, Chris worked for Mitchells & Butlers for 9 years and in that time worked at every single level from bar staff through to kitchen staff and then restaurant management across 7 differ-ent premises and 4 cities.
Tash is in charge of our brand, products and marketing and is armed with a degree in Ceramics and 7 years in retail management. She brings a keen eye for design, branding and operations. While working in the USA, Tash's entrepreneurial spirit was ignited with a successful artisan pottery business, showcasing her meticulous craft and artistic flair. Since moving back to the UK Tash has been full-time in our business and is also our Brew Bar director as well as an SCA certified barista.
