Celebrating 2 Years of Forge Valley Roasters!
We wanted to pick something very special for our second birthday and of all the coffees we cupped at the start of summer, this one was easily our favourite. Not only a mysterious Heirloom varietal, but also achieving that coveted Grade 1 classification alongside a whopping SCA score of 87.5, this is one not to be missed.
The Natural Guji Kello Raro coffee is a testament to meticulous care, from cultivation to export. Grown by 230 smallholder producers in Raro Village at high altitudes, the coffee cherries are picked at peak ripeness and undergo a meticulous sorting process at the wet mill, owned by SNAP Specialty Coffee. They are then sun-dried on raised African beds for 17 days under strict supervision. The natural process highlights a vibrant, fruity cup profile. Expect a delightful burst of tropical and red fruit notes, with prominent flavours of mango, cherry and strawberry. A delicate hint of peach tea adds to the complexity, while a velvety milk chocolate finish provides a rich and comforting balance. This coffee is a true reflection of the unique terroir and dedicated craftsmanship of the Uraga region.
