The Origin

This is such an unsual coffee and highly recommended to try. It showcases Rwanda's coffee heritage and such an accessible price and is brought to you through the dedicated efforts of the Rwanda Trading Company (RTC).

This specific lot comes from the seconds of their Grade 1 naturals (classified as "Undergrade" due to a higher count of secondary defects). Yet, despite its unusual appearance, our rigorous quality assessment confirmed a wonderfully fragrant, pleasing, and full-bodied flavour in the cup that showcases Rwanda's distinguished profile.

Since its founding in 2009, RTC has been dedicated to driving positive social impact through coffee. They achieve this by partnering directly with smallholder farmers, fostering economic freedom and security through transparent and resilient supply chains. RTC prioritises quality and farmer development, offering crucial training programs in financial literacy, agribusiness management, and agronomy to improve yields and long-term sustainability.

RTC ensures fair pricing by providing farmers with access to the futures market and meticulously oversees every stage of the coffee journey, from milling and processing to quality control. With 16 wet mills across the country, RTC processes 25% of Rwanda's annual coffee production, collaborating with thousands of farmers to bring their exceptional coffee to the world.
