A New Chapter! Welcome to Forge Valley Roasters – The Kitchen!

Well, I'm very sorry that we've not posted in a while. It's been an absolutely insane rollercoaster over the last few months. The Forge Valley Roasters story has always been one of adventure, growth and evolution - we made a commitment to transforming our tiny business roasting small-batch into something bigger with the hope of having a lasting and positive impact to this wonderful area in which we live.

Today (somewhat belated!) we are thrilled to announce the opening of our second stand alone location, a significant step forward in our hospitality journey: Forge Valley Roasters – The Kitchen, which officially opened its doors on Monday, October 9th.

Located at Unit 2, The Hillyard, within the idyllic Dawnay Estates in Wykeham, The Kitchen is not merely a second café; it is the culmination of our creative vision, transforming into a true culinary destination serving the very best coffee, food and cakes that we can create.

The opening of The Kitchen represents an ambitious evolution for FVR. While our successful Brew Bar on Huntriss Row in Scarborough remains the perfect stop for a coastal adventure, The Kitchen is designed as tranquil escape to the country, a place where you are encouraged to linger, relax, and enjoy an elevated experience.

This new venture includes full table service offered downstairs and in our beautiful gardens, during the warmer months. We also have comfy sofas upstairs on our mezzanine which we keep unreserved, so there is always some space to pop in and relax with a coffee. Crucially, we’ve also extended our hours here, remaining open until 9:00 pm every Thursday, Friday, and Saturday to become a new destination for relaxed evening dining and socialising.

👋 A Fond Farewell to Our First Spot

We want to take a moment to acknowledge a recent logistical change. At their request, we have now exited Wilsons Food Hall in Seamer, which is where we opened our very first coffee shop 10 months ago. This location was instrumental in expanding the FVR brand and we are grateful for the experience and the support of the Seamer community.

However, the core of that success has moved with us! We are proud to confirm that nearly all of the brilliant team and equipment from Seamer have made the smooth transition to The Kitchen in Wykeham. This ensures the same friendly faces and the high standard of specialty coffee you’ve come to expect are right here!

Specialty Coffee, Fresh Local Ingredients

Our expansion into a full kitchen is driven by the same meticulous sourcing ethos applied to our coffees.

The menu concept is inspired by the wonderful, traceable ingredients available across the Dawnay Estate and the wider North York Moors, ensuring the food is as locally rooted and high-quality as our beans.

Overseeing this culinary vision are Huntriss Row Head Chef Carlos alongside our secret new Wykeham Head Chef (yet to be announced, watch this space!). Look out for their signature dishes accross our all-day brunch, and lunch menus.

The premises at The Hillyard have long served the community as a beloved spot for warmth and hospitality, and we are honored to continue this tradition while elevating the offering.

Year-Round Comfort: Inside, you’ll find the same architectural charm, featuring a stunning mezzanine with comfy sofas for relaxation and, as the seasons change, a promise of a roaring fireplace to gather around.

For the Coffee Connoisseur: Our dedication to excellence is evident in our equipment, featuring top-of-the-line Victoria Arduino and Mahlkonig machinery, ensuring every espresso drink meets the highest technical standards.

Your Evening Escape: Thanks to our full alcohol license, you can enjoy a curated selection of local beers, ciders, and fine wines every day and from Thursday through Saturday until 9:00 pm—the perfect setting for extended socialising and relaxed late dining.

The Kitchen is dog-friendly and offers ample onsite parking along with disabled access throughout, making it an easy and accessible retreat for both local residents and visitors exploring the North York Moors.
