The New Sheepfold Farm Story

The New Sheepfold Farm Story

It doesn't get more local than New Sheepfold Farm. Located right here in the North York Moors National Park, this family-run farm is a shining example of how traditional farming can be reimagined for a sustainable future.

Owned by Louise and Mark Day, whose family has been farming this land for decades, New Sheepfold Farm is committed to working with nature, not against it. They’ve actively regenerated their land, improving soil health and creating new habitats for local wildlife. A small herd of goats helps keep the grass tidy, and they even raise primitive breeds like Soay sheep, a nod to their dedication to biodiversity.

The farm sells its grass-fed beef and lamb directly to customers from a vending machine in their old milking parlor. This innovative approach allows people to purchase their meat at their convenience and, as Louise says, "see the animals and how well we look after them." This farm is a testament to the belief that delicious, high-quality food can come from a place that actively nurtures the land.
